If you love New England AND koalas, then you will definitely enjoy Bundaleer's next postings!
Our German friends went above and beyond to document the recent adventures of Bundaleer in New England. Thanks to this extraordinary effort, I expect to update the blog about twice a week every week in June.
And so, to B. & T., for your spirit, creativity and terrific sense of humor: a heartfelt Vielen Dank!
And to our readers: Enjoy, Mates! And now... here's Bundaleer's first "Fuzzy Logic" posting!

Hi, this is Bundaleer and, as Julie already indicated, I went together with my new friends, Scoopy and Inky, for a very long New England walkabout! Here is the story of our great adventures!
Inky is an octopus and Scoopy is a pelican. Both animals are actually New York expats that now live in Hamburg, Germany. And actually, they live with a very nice couple, B. & T., who visited Ben and Julie quite recently in New York.
After all of us got acquainted in NYC, the idea came up for a walkabout which I hadn´t done for some time. It´s always nice to know some locals who can really show you the places of interest – especially when they are same-sized locals like Inky and Scoopy!
I did not feel too bad about leaving Julie and Ben for several days as they had their German visitors. So we three adventurous boys took off quite early on a Saturday to avoid crowds.
Our first stop was in New Haven, CT where we got some informational material and some maps. We visited Yale University and were invited to participate in a course at their famous School of Drama.
After so much early excitement, Inky and Scoopy needed a (water-oriented) break and we spent a while resting at the beach near Lighthouse Point.
We continued along the coast and passed some nice little villages, among them Pattagansett Harbour.
Here was where we decided to hitch some rides every now and then. When not walking actively, we did some planning of the next places to go. I must admit that sometimes I felt a bit homesick as all my travels so far were with Ben & Julie. But my new mates made sure that my homesickness never lasted long...
We continued on to Stonington, CT where we visited the Old Lighthouse Museum. (Scoopy is VERY fond of lighthouses, as I soon found out!)
We slid along the hood of an "Old Timer"...
... and then it was time for another break at some peaceful "water-y" point.
Later that afternoon, we decided we would visit Block Island the following day. That´s why we hitched a ride next up to Port Judith, RI where we spent the night at a campground ...
... and had a small dinner. Inky and Scoopy both had bought a cask of wine. When I remarked that maybe we should not start drinking before 5 p.m., Inky said that at some place on this planet it is definitely AFTER 5 p.m. And that´s what counts.
To such an argument I had no reply, and therefore it was a funny night and we became very good buddies indeed!

Bundaleer Hits the Road -- More Than Once!
A lot has happened since the last posting! Most unexpectedly, Bundaleer has made two new friends: Scoopy the Pelican, and Inky the Octopus! The friendly pair came over from Germany last week along with two friends, B. & T., visiting Ben and Julie.
A couple of nights ago, Bundaleer and his new buddies secretly put their small heads together and formed a daring plan. With a map, a dollar and a Bündel (the German word for bundle or satchel), the trio hit the road on a camping trip the next morning.
The above picture was taken here in New York under special nightime lighting conditions.
However, the following picture actually came though via cell phone. We believe the campground shot was taken in Connecticut but we can't be sure.
I was a little disappointed to observe Bundy atop the wine box before sunset. Well, you know those Aussies tend to get an early start...or, put another way, we Puritans get a little uptight about those things. Hmmm...it appears they have the German pumpernickel out already. I'm guessing the New England seafood for Scoopy and Inky must be in the cooler.
More camping trip details to follow as news from the road trickles in...

I-95 is not the only new road Bundaleer hit recently.
On May 2, Bundaleer rode his first bicycle! Complete with homemade safety helmet, he joined more than 30,000 riders for New York City's Five Boro Bike Tour! Here are Bundaleer and Julie at the tour's kickoff in lower Manhattan's Battery Park area.
Because Bundy's hind legs couldn't reach the bike's pedals, the small koala occupied the lead "basket seat." Here he is below, guarding bikes, while Julie and her touring buddy, R., tried in vain to find water and energy bars on this exceptionally hot and humid spring day.
Here below in Brooklyn, Bundy takes a riverside breather and looks south towards the beautiful new Brooklyn Bridge Park. http://www.brooklynbridgepark.org/
Bundaleer chatted briefly with another furry "front-seater" along the way. They compared their hair-odynamic strategies. (Groan.) They also agreed that riding the lead spot was tougher than it appeared.
Finally, here is Bundy taking it easy at last on the ferry ride from Staten Island back to Manhattan.
In all honesty, I think Bundaleer fared better than I did on this ride. He seemed pretty much fine after the trip while I hobbled around for a full 24 hours afterwards! The little guy was probably napping while I was slogging through those last 10 miles! Oh well, he was a good little partner anyway...

OK, stay tuned for what will probably be more quirky camping photos! And you do know what we're going to call campy little Bundaleer when he comes back speaking German, don't you: Bündeleer!
