World's Oldest Koala Dies Peacefully

Thought to be the world's oldest koala, "Birthday Girl" (shown above) passed away peacefully last night in eastern Australia. She was 25.

Birthday Girl was a long-time resident of the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital in New South Wales. She suffered from chronic arthritis but was helped greatly by numerous medicines.

One time, Birthday Girl got stuck up in a tree after an arthritis medicine (that had allowed her to successfully climb up the tree) unexpectedly wore off! In the wild, the average koala life span is 10-15 years for males; and 15-18 for females.
